Up to 500 new jobs will be created in the Shetland Islands, following an announcement yesterday that French oil giant Total intends to build a gas processing plant on the island. 

The contract to build the new plant has been awarded to FTSE 100 oil services company Petrofac. Construction will begin next year.

A competition for an internship on a BP’s North Sea oil has boosted the number of engineering students applying to the energy firm.

The contract, the third consecutive 12-month contract, sees Air Energi increase its user base with the multi-poster, securing a deal for up to and including 55 consultants throughout the UK with an option to add more over the year.

Global provider of talent development solutions SumTotal Systems has appointed John Borgerding as president and board member.

Borgerding will be responsible for advancing SumTotal’s integrated talent development strategy, while continuing to build solutions around learning management, performance management and compensation.

US executive recruiters’ confidence in the executive employment market reached a 22-month high in April, according to ExecuNet’s Recruiter Confidence Index data.

Investment banks are starting to rehire graduates, with some offering starting packages worth £50,000, according to a report in The Times today.
